I don’t know why I do it to myself. There I am snuggled up in bed watching my favourite beauty gurus on YouTube and I just can’t help it, I have to click on all the gorgeous Christmas gift guides that are made for people living the US or UK. Not only are half the products not available here in Aus but if you can get your hands on them or have them shipped over, the cost in $AUD is often double. However, the double standard of cosmetics prices for us Aussie girls is a rant for another day because right now I’m too excited by what I ordered from Lily Pebbles Christmas Gift Guide. When the delightful Lily held up the cute transparent Christmas bauble covered in white snowflakes and housing three eos lip balms I just had to make it mine.
I’ve seen the eos (Evolution of Smooth) lip balms before and they stick in my mind because they have adorably novel packaging. The coloured plastic sphere opens to reveal a similar sphere of lip balm that you apply straight onto your lips, kind of like a cross between a pot and a stick without a winding mechanism. I don’t know how practical it is especially when the rounded tip begins to wear down and you eventually have to use your finger to apply it but these little balls are just so darn cute. Besides, I don’t really think long term when it comes to lip balm. Knowing me, I’ll probably have moved on to something else before I make a dent in the perfect creamy dome.
The eos Limited Edition 3 pack includes 3 flavours – Sweet Mint, Pomegranate Raspberry and Vanilla Bean which is exclusive to this kit. On opening and testing these little cuties I have to say that the flavour and scent of the Pomegranate Raspberry and Vanilla Bean is not very strong and all 3 have a minty component. I checked the ingredients to see if they all contained peppermint oil, but they don’t, so I’m not sure why the all 3 are minty, but they definitely are. The sweet mint has the strongest flavour and scent but I don’t find it overpowering and the coolness from the peppermint oil doesn’t last an uncomfortable amount of time on the lips. I took the gorgeous mint green sphere to work with me so the uplifting scent can revive me during the day.
According to their website eos lip balms are 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, and will keep your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth.
I don’t seem to have a lot of luck with lip balms being able to hydrate my notoriously dry and flaky lips and eos is no exception. I love applying this product and it feels soft and smooth, not sticky at all and I do feel as though it’s relatively long lasting for a balm, but as soon as it wears off I find myself back to square one with rough, dry lips again.
I’m really happy with my latest purchase, mainly for the novelty factor and now I can finally tick eos lip balms off my wishlist of international products to procure. The Limited Edition 3 Pack is really cute (and festive) and along with any of the packs by eos makes a lovely affordable gift. If you’re looking for something unique for an Aussie girl then this will definitely hit the spot. Track them down online or eBay.
